About us
A little History:
Chef J. "David" Peraza is an Americanized native Mexican. His offerings are taste tantalizing and innovative. We're not your "typical" taco place! Chef David, and his wife, Marilyn, have been in the hospitality industry for many years. They're your neighbors, and strangers to no one. You've probably seen Chef David on local television, talking about and preparing food for the various restaurants he has helped kick off and/or run as Executive Chef (Mez, Gonza Tacos y Tequila, Cantina South, Jibarra, to name a few) prior to opening his Food Truck and current Restaurant in N. Raleigh. He and his wife also owned a restaurant in South Florida called David's on the Avenue, which was voted one of the Top Ten Best Restaurants in South Florida by BonAppetit and Time Magazine. His Authentic and World Class Mexican Cuisine was voted Best Mexican Food by The New Times - in both Broward & Palm Beach County, Florida in the 2001 "Best Of" Series.
In recent past, and over the years, his food has won numerous awards for his Taco Fusion and Authentic dishes. Locally, Chef David participated in the American Cancer Society's benefit by the Red Sword Guild - 'Chef for a Cure' where his dish won People's Choice Award for 2015 and 2016; and also entered other local events where he won People's Choice Award for 2015 and 2016. The popular taco dish on his current menu, Moo Moo III, has won numerous awards including People's Choice at Taco Palooza in 2016, and his Grasshopper Tacos won people choice award at Bug Fest 2017. He further went on to enter a Vegan contest last year where he and his wife won Best Entree, Best Appetizer, and Best Dessert! Most recently, and also locally, his restaurant has been honored to be found to be Best Tacos in North Carolina, best Margarita in North Carolina and best Taco Spot - all according to Yelp and News & Observer.
